The regulations, bought in by the government, mean that we are able to open our holiday cottages again and you are able to visit. Whilst we have been allowed to open, we now need extra procedures and precautions. The requirements, risk assessments and extra cleaning are part of this.
We are doing a few extra bits to make sure everyone stays safe but is still able to enjoy their holiday without too many changes.
Please do NOT come to Moorparks if you have, or suspect you may have, any of the signs of illness .
The main symptoms of coronavirus are:
• a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
• a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
• a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
Most people with coronavirus have at least 1 of these symptoms.
Moorparks Holiday Cottages, Erik and Michele will do everything possible to reduce the possibility of anyone catching any infection whilst on site. We very rarely leave Moorparks during ‘Guest seasons’, so it is not just down to us but you too.
Our cleaning standard is extremely high to start with. The government regulations state that we have to make sure that all surfaces that can be touched are cleaned by an appropriate, specified, cleaner.
Due to the extra cleaning required we are having to insist that checkout times are strictly adhered to and we are also having to move check-in times to 4.30.
We will supply you with a starter hand gel to keep with you in your car. Please use this when returning from outside of Moorparks. I am confident that Moorparks is infection free, but I would like to remind guests that they also have a responsibility to make sure they are not transferring infection from one place to another, or here.
Whilst the government restrictions are in place we are unable to allow visits from family or friends to Moorparks who are not booked in. Once again this is to stop the chance of spreading infection and to make guests in the other property feel safe whilst they are here.
Each cottage has its own garden area, please ensure that you (and anyone in your group) stay within your garden area and try to keep to the 2M away from anyone else. There is plenty of space here so there should be no problem. Please remember that not everyone is comfortable with the 1M distancing rule and may prefer you stay at 2M apart.
If you have children with you please explain or supervise them whilst here.
Those that have been to Moorparks before know that I am more than happy to talk about Moorparks, Devon or the animals (or anything actually). We are not being rude, but we will be 2M away when we talk.
Anyone wanting to get a bit closer to the animals, I am more than happy but will have to wear a mask as we will be within that 2m.
This is a government requirement and a sensible one to make sure we are all safe. We will be having guests throughout the summer so need to be extra careful.
We do hope these rules MAY be relaxed later in the year as it isn’t how we like to greet or speak to our guests.
It is a government requirement that any guest showing signs of illness as listed above make it known ASAP and get tested.
Use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service if:
• you’re worried about your symptoms
• you’re not sure what to do
If any guest has a positive test, all guests staying in the property will have to return home immediately and start a 14 day period of isolation.
Our terms and conditions always recommend that you take out travel insurance in case of being unable to travel or illness whilst away.
If necessary, your details may have to be given out for ‘Track and Trace’ use if there is a case of COVID-19 at our properties.
It would be advisable to bring masks for all members who are travelling. There MAY be some venues, attractions or places to visit who insist on you using a mask.
EVERY holiday cottage should be doing all of the above, but not everyone will. Please don’t think because we are doing all of this it is because there is more risk here than anywhere else. We are taking your safety and ours very seriously.
Please remember that all of these are precautions to keep everyone safe.
Whilst you are at Moorparks we will try, as always, to make sure you have an enjoyable time here and in Devon.
We like your holiday at Moorparks to be as comfortable and well catered for as possible, with lots of little extras. However, we have taken the decision not to provide certain items that you would have previously found (and hopefully will during you next visit) to further reduce any potential infection risk.
So, for example, no kitchen foil, film wrap etc. No cooking oil or herbs and spices.
No magazines, tissues or jigsaws.
What we will leave you is a new pack of Tea & coffee plus sugar sachets to get you started. We will also leave milk in the fridge and some of our fresh eggs, some toilet roll and kitchen roll.
Salt and pepper mills changed between guests.
Washing up liquid & dishwasher tabs are also provided.
We hope you appreciate we are doing all we can to keep you all safe and we look forward to welcoming you to Moorparks Holiday Cottages Devon.
