Westward Ho! beach is a favourite of ours. The Summer months in Devon and Cornwall can get very busy. The population expands to four times as many so everywhere is that little but busier. We don’t go to the beach during the ‘School holidays’ but always make the most of being so close at other times. Westward Ho! beach is about 35 minute drive from the house/
. In Devon terms, that’s ‘just down the road’. For those ‘in the know’ there is a free car park just next to The Pier House. The owner of the Pier house paid for it and looks after it, nice chap! So, we usually park there and take a walk along the coastline. On the prom is a pebble beach and a little further away a long stretch of golden sand.
There are plenty of places to eat, we have been to The Pier House a number of times and always love it. The fish and chip shops is fab, but this time was a little busy. I am very impatient and didn’t want to queue up so we decided to have something to eat at The Drift restuarant next door. This is a new place and we had not seen it before. The restaurant looked nice and the menu was varied, as pescatarians we always look for fish. I must admit that I had forgotten that during the summer months, on a Thursday, the Bideford Brass band play on the prom. So, not only did we have a lovely meal but we had music to listen to as well.
